Barrie, ON) – Clean and Green Barrie, a city-wide community cleanup initiative is taking place this week from October 16 to 18, 2025. Clean and Green Barrie provides an opportunity for the community to come together and help beautify local neighbourhoods, parks, ravines, trails and other public spaces.
Thursday, October 16 & Friday, October 17 – School and Business Days
Elementary and high school students are encouraged to clean up their schoolyards and nearby parklands. Local businesses can clean public spaces such as trails, ravines, or parks near their workplace.
Saturday, October 18 – Community Cleanup Day
Community groups, teams, neighbourhood associations, families, and individuals can take part by cleaning local public spaces in their neighbourhoods.
Participants who have pre-registered received special collection bags, and all garbage collected will be picked up at designated drop-off locations. If you have not yet registered and would like to participate, please email CleanAndGreen@barrie.ca or call 249-733-6790.
Clean and Green Barrie replaces the former Spring into Clean initiative which traditionally took place during Earth Week in April but was cancelled this year due to the ice storm. Last year, more than 17,000 participants collected over five tonnes of litter across the city, preventing waste from entering waterways, harming wildlife, and diminishing the natural beauty of our environment.
