(Barrie, ON) - The Order of the Spirit Catcher Award Committee has announced the 2025 recipients of the Order of the Spirit Catcher Awards. Marshall Green was honoured in the Senior Category, Ben Cupello for the Adult Category, and Sophie Rennie in the Youth Category. The recipients were recognized last night at the September 17 Council Meeting.
The Order of the Spirit Catcher Awards are the highest honour bestowed by the City to volunteers for outstanding service to our community. This year, a new category to honour seniors was added to the youth and adult award categories.
Nominees must be Barrie residents and demonstrate one or more of the following qualities:
- An individual who has selflessly devoted their time and energy to help others;
- Has made a significant long-term contribution to the lifestyle of the community and;
- Through exceptional achievement, has benefited others and brought honour to the City of Barrie.
The nomination period for the 2025 awards closed on May 30, 2025. The Order of the Spirit Catcher Award Committee is comprised of two Councillors, Councillor N. Nigussie and Councillor J. Harris. The Committee is responsible for reviewing all nominations for the Order of the Spirit Catcher Award and recommending recipient(s) of the Award.
