Excerpt

The Study

The City of Barrie (the “City”) is updating its Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to determine multi-modal infrastructure requirements to support its current growth forecast to 2051 targeting 298,000 people and 150,000 jobs. The forecast was developed within the legislative context of the previous provincial Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe (the “Growth Plan”), 2019.

This study will:

  • Review the existing TMP and current network conditions to identify existing capacity constraints;
  • Ensure the transportation network and services meet the current and future community needs by providing long-term and integrated transportation planning strategies to the 2051 planning horizon; and
  • Recommend future transportation projects to support the planned growth.

We Want to Hear From You

The City would like to invite you to attend the upcoming Public Information Centre (PIC) to learn more about the TMP and to provide your input. At this meeting, the Project Team will:

  • Provide an overview of the TMP study process and project tasks to date;
  • Share key feedback received from PIC #1;
  • Gather input from different configurations of the transportation network (the “network alternatives”);
  • Seek feedback on developed network alternatives, factors considered in developing the preferred alternative, and the proposed evaluation process for the alternatives; and
  • Provide an outline of next steps and opportunities for engagement.

This is a drop-in style event with project team members available to answer questions, receive feedback and discuss your thoughts on the future of transportation. Residents can use also use the interactive digital tools to provide feedback online if they are unable to attend the in-person PIC.
