The public are invited to attend a Public Information Centre (PIC) being held on:
Thursday, January 16th, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parkview Community Centre, 189 Blake Street, Barrie Ontario.
The City of Barrie Engineering Department is undertaking the detail design for alterations to Johnsons Beach. In 2016, modifications were made to the outlet of the storm sewer that passes though Johnsons Beach. A rock lined overflow channel was installed so that if the inlet to the storm sewer became blocked the overland flows would not washout the beach. Since the modifications there have been no issues with overland flows on the beach, however changes to the design are necessary to regain some of the beach area.
The PIC is a drop in format and residents and business are encouraged to drop in anytime during the three hour period. A formal presentation will not be provided.
The PIC is intended to:Present the design drawings;Provide an opportunity to ask questions to City representatives;Provide input from the public on the detail design; and,Discuss concerns regarding construction activities.
Project Highlights:Changes to the curb in the existing parking area;Removal of the existing rock channel;Installation of a new overflow channel east of the existing rock channel; and,Placement of sand in place of the existing rock channel.
