Take notice that City of Barrie Council is holding a public meeting on May 10th, 2023 at 7:00 PM to discuss proposed development charge rates and community benefits charges as well as the policies that will be applied throughout the City. Council will be considering the approval of an updated development charges and community benefits charges by-laws on a date following this public meeting.

The public meeting is an opportunity for the public to review and provide comments on the
Development Charges Background Study and the proposed Development Charges By-law(s), as required under The Development Charges Act, 1997. As well, the public will be able to review and provide comments on the Community Benefits Charge Strategy and proposed Community Benefits Charges By-law.

All interested parties are invited to attend in person or electronically in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001:

The Development Charges Background Study and the proposed Development Charges By-law(s) as well as the Community Benefits Charges Strategy and proposed Community Benefits Charges By-law will be available on the City’s website at barrie.ca/DevelopmentCharges on April 21, 2023.

Any person may attend the public meeting and make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the studies and by-laws. Registration to speak and written comments should be directed to Legislative and Court Services at cityclerks@barrie.ca no later than 12:00 p.m. on May 4, 2023, so that necessary arrangements can be made. Any person may make representation at the meeting however, written submissions and advance registration are encouraged. Comments received before and at the public meeting will be considered by Council before making any changes to the development charges and community benefit charges by-laws.
