Notice of Study Commencement: Bradford Street Corridor Study Schedule ‘C’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA)

Date Published

The City of Barrie is undertaking a Schedule ‘C’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to identify multi-modal transportation and streetscape improvements to support planned growth.

The study area is illustrated in the following figure.  The study is focusing on two specific areas: the Bradford Street corridor and the intersection pair of Tiffin Street / Bradford Street and Tiffin Street / Lakeshore Drive.

 The Process

The Municipal Class EA study will be completed in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act and will fulfill the requirements of the Municipal Class EA process (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015). The project team will examine a full range of alternatives and identify a preferred strategy to address identified needs. The project will include public and agency consultation and requires the completion of an Environmental Study Report (ESR). Public Comments Invited

Consultation with the public, Indigenous Nations, regulatory agencies and stakeholders is a key element of the Class EA process. The City would like to invite anyone with an interest in the study to have an opportunity to provide input, which will help the project team in the decision-making process. Two (2) Public Information Centres (PIC) will be held. The first PIC will be held in an online format and is tentatively scheduled for Fall 2021 to present the purpose and scope of this study, existing conditions and to review alternative solutions. Advanced notification of the PIC will be provided to the general public and directly impacted property owners / tenants.Project Webpage
