The bridge deck has been waterproofed and paving will occur in the near future. This will be followed by expansion joints and final concrete placement on the north sidewalk and parapet wall.
It is estimated that traffic will resume in the westbound direction on the new bridge mid-September on the lane closest to the sidewalk (weather pending). Traffic will still be down to one lane in each direction while work continues on the median.
Drivers are reminded to slow down through the construction site as work continues.

Night shift work is complete with no anticipation of further night work. Deck ends, wing walls, and ballast walls are complete. Sleeper slab, approach slab, and soffit rebar, forming, pouring, and curing are anticipated in August. Drivers are encouraged to slow down around the construction site as there will be frequent concrete pours ongoing for the remainder of the project.
July 18, 2023
Night work has progressed well with soffit removals, and form and concrete work completed. Soffit concrete is curing this week, so there will be no night work (July 17–21). The last week of night work will occur the week of July 24 with form removal, soffit deficiency work, and access road removal.
The day shift is now working to rebuild bridge components with soffit, deck end, and wing wall concrete pours occurring this week.
Residents are encouraged to slow down around the construction site as there will be frequent concrete pours ongoing for the remainder of the project.
May 30, 2023
Rehabilitation work continues including barrier wall, approach slab, median, and ballast wall removals. Residents are reminded to drive slowly around the work site and obey signs and traffic measures in place.
The next portion of this project includes work along the underside of the bridge, directly above the rail tracks. The work is tentatively scheduled to begin mid-June and is expected to finish in August. The May 2023 information bulletin is being distributed to nearby residents.
To accommodate train schedules and safety, the work will take place nightly between 7pm and 7am. Noise will include sand blasting, equipment maneuvering, and air chisels, similar to those already heard during work to this point. This project is exempt from the Noise By-law per Schedule 2, Permanent Exemptions, Section 3: "The operation of equipment in conjunction with City projects or reconstruction projects, general maintenance and emergency maintenance projects."
April 2023
Clearwater Structures mobilized to site and began work on the soffit and bearings in February. In March, the bridge was jacked onto temporary supports at the east and west abutments so that bearings could be replaced.
Traffic has been shifted onto the eastbound bridge to allow deck work to begin. Asphalt has been removed from the deck and at the bridge ends. Concrete removal is being performed at the expansion joints. The bridge has been lowered onto new bearings, and soffit work continues underneath the bridge.
