Big Bay Point Road crosses over the GO Rail tracks east of Ashford Drive. The road crossing contains two bridges, one containing eastbound traffic and one westbound traffic. The older westbound bridge was built in 1975 and needed repairs to extend its service life. The project area spanned Big Bay Point Road from Ashford Drive to Pine Drive

The project was initiated in 2019 with investigations and studies to evaluate the condition of the existing westbound structure and develop a suitable strategy for the rehabilitation work.

Subsequently, the final engineering designs were created and coordination with the rail authority, utilities and regulatory agencies commenced.

In general, the scope of the bridge rehabilitation included concrete repairs of the bridge deck, abutments, bearings, underside of deck (soffit), and repaving of the bridge and approaches.
