Barrie, ON – Mapleview Drive East reopened yesterday evening (Thursday, October 8) to through traffic, more than six weeks ahead of schedule.
While Mapleview Drive East is open to through traffic, construction activities will continue as the remaining project work is completed. Motorists should continue to expect temporary lane closures, lane restrictions and delays.
As part of the project, concrete centre medians will be installed at the Royal Jubilee Drive/Lally Terrace and Chef Lane intersections. Once installed, access at these intersections will be restricted to right-in/right-out movements, and left turns to and from Mapleview Drive East will no longer be permitted.
The work is part of the City’s broader Mapleview Drive East Transportation Improvements Project, which extends from Yonge Street to Prince William Way. The project is supporting planned growth to 2031 through roadway widening, intersection improvements, multi-use trails and new stormwater infrastructure.
