The Property Standards Committee is established pursuant to Section 15.6 of the Building Code Act and hears appeals by property owners or their agents who have received an Order Of The Property Standards Officer from the City.
The Property Standards Committee may confirm, modify, or quash a Property Standards Order, or extend the time for compliance, provided the Committee is satisfied that the general intent and purpose of the Property Standards By-law are maintained.
Composition
The Property Standards Committee shall be composed of five Barrie residents.
Meetings
Meetings are held on an as-needed basis and are scheduled when an appeal is received. The Committee must hold a hearing if an owner or occupant who has been served with an Order is not satisfied with its terms or conditions.
