Take notice that the Corporation of the City of Barrie is in receipt of a complete application as of Monday, June 28, 2021 for a proposed Amendment to the Zoning By-law.
TAKE NOTICE that MHBC on behalf of Arten Development Group have submitted a complete application for an Amendment to the Zoning By-law for the lands known municipally as 284 and 286 Dunlop Street West and 119 and 121 Henry Street. The subject lands are legally described as Lot 21 and Part of Lot 22 South Side of Henry Street and Part of Lots 29 and 30 North Side of Elizabeth Street, Plan 211 in the City of Barrie. The combined parcels are 0.35 ha (0.87 acres) in area and are currently occupied by 2 single detached residential dwellings and a commercial building.
The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment seeks to amend the current zoning from General Commercial (C4) and Residential Multiple Dwelling First Density (RM1) to Mixed Use Node with Special Provisions (MU1 SP-XXX).
The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment would facilitate the development of a 16-storey residential / commercial building including 124 residential apartment units and 1,052 m2 of commercial space.
A public meeting is scheduled for Fall 2021 with further details to be provided closer to the date. At the time of the public meeting any person may make representation, however, written submissions to Legislative and Court Services are encouraged. Notification of the Amendment to the Zoning By-law, if adopted by Council will be provided upon written request to the City Clerk.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Corporation of the City of Barrie in respect of the proposed Amendment to the Zoning By-law before the Corporation of the City of Barrie gives or refuses to give approval to the proposed Amendment:the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Corporation of The City of Barrie to the Ontario Land Tribunal; andthe person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
If you wish to be notified of the decisions of the Council of The Corporation of the City of Barrie in respect of the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment, you must make a written submission to the undersigned or cityclerks@barrie.ca.
