Upgrades within Mapleton Park were completed as part of the Pavement Management Program (road segments in the Cundles neighbourhood). The contract was awarded to Lisbon Paving Co. Limited. This work is part of City Council’s approved 2025 budget and aligns with Council’s strategic plan to update and improve City Infrastructure.

Project Updates

December 2, 2025

The new asphalt pathway and terraseeding work at Mapleton Park were completed at the end of November. To protect the newly installed infrastructure and ensure visitor safety, the City will keep the park closed until spring 2026. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to maintain the quality of this space for everyone to enjoy.

Project Details

Upgrades included:

  • Removal of the existing asphalt pathway and interlocking brick
  • Installation of a new, widened asphalt pathway
  • Removal and localized repairs of the existing concrete playground curb 
  • Installation of new, concrete sidewalk ramps and tactile plates

What to Expect During the Project

  • Inconveniences may occur such as, dust, noise, and short delays. The City will make efforts to reduce impacts, and your patience is appreciated.
  • Pedestrian access along local roads, adjacent to the park, will be maintained during construction. 
  • Mapleton Park will be closed during the project.
  • Local roads will be open to traffic at all times, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Access for emergency vehicles will always be maintained. 
  • The contractor is required to conduct work in a safe manner, such as using traffic cones and fencing off excavations. Please use extra caution around the construction zone to ensure everyone’s safety.
