Victoria Day long weekend affected services

(BarrieON) – The following City of Barrie services will be affected on the Victoria Day holiday—Monday, May 18: 

  • Recreation/Community Centres will be closed on Monday, May 18.
  • Barrie Transit: There will be no transit service on Monday, May 18. 
  • City Hall will be closed on Monday, May 18.

Residents should also be aware of the following service reminders:

  • Curbside collection: There will be no change to the waste collection schedule on Monday, May 18; curbside collection will occur as regularly scheduled. Yard waste is collected every-other-week, alternating with your garbage week.   • Fireworks reminder: Residents are permitted to use fireworks on the Victoria Day holiday—Monday, May 18—as per the Regulatory Matters By-law. Fireworks are permitted until 11 p.m. on the day of the celebration, per the Noise By-law. Please review fireworks safety reminders at barrie.ca/FireworksSafety.
  • Parking: Downtown parking (on-street and lots) is free on statutory holidays. Waterfront parking is enforced 24/7/365. The Spirit Catcher, Simcoe Street Lot, and North Marina parking lots are "hybrid" parking lots and rates in the hybrid lots are consistent with waterfront parking rates and enforced 24/7/365. A digital waterfront permit is required for residents to park for free at specific waterfront areas.
