Building Safety Month is an annual campaign supported by municipalities across the Province of Ontario.
We are pleased to share the Mayor’s Proclamation announcing that May 2026 is Building Safety Month. Building Services staff are committed to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the people that live, work, and play in the city of Barrie.
To learn more about building standards, permits, and inspections, visit barrie.ca/building or come see us at an upcoming Building Services Open House (6-8pm):
- May 7 at Allandale Recreation Center (190 Bayview Drive)
- June 4 at Peggy Hill Team Community Centre (171 Mapleton Avenue)
To learn about safe construction practices, read our Residential Infill Construction – Good Neighbour Guide.
If you have questions about building in Barrie, please contact us by phone, email, or come see us in-person at City Hall. We are here to help.
