Doors Open Barrie | Aardvark Learning Academy Tour & Shodo, Japanese Calligraphy Workshop

As part of Doors Open Barrie, Aardvark Learning Academy is open for everyone who is interested in our learning programs.

In celebration of Culture Days, we will be hosting "Japanese calligraphy" workshop as well. Experience Shodo, Japanese calligraphy! It is a traditional Japanese art that uses a brush, ink, and paper.  It is a mindful activity that focuses deeply on the movement of the brush, and the moment that you live.  

The workshop includes:

• Introduction to Shodo: Learn about how Shodo is practiced in Japan.
• Learn the basics: Start with setting your posture and holding the brush.
• Practice basic strokes: Make simple lines and dots. 
• Create your masterpiece: Write a meaningful word or your name to take home.
