Ward Boundary Review

In 2025, the City of Barrie underwent a comprehensive review of its ward boundaries. This review was conducted by Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. to help City Council decide whether to keep the ward structure or adopt a new one. The Ward Boundary By-law was passed on June 18, 2025 and the notice of the passing of a by-law was issued on June 19, 2025.

Barrie's population has been steadily increasing, with the 2021 census reporting approximately 153,000 residents, a nearly 12% increase since the last ward boundary review. This growth necessitated a review to ensure the ward boundaries continue to provide equitable representation.
