The month of June is recognized as National Indigenous History Month, and June 21 as National Indigenous Peoples Day. Throughout the month, the City of Barrie is supporting and collaborating with community partners to provide opportunities to learn about and celebrate the rich heritage, diverse cultures, and significant contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
Information booths will be set up in the Rotunda from 12–1pm before the flag raising ceremony. You're invited to learn more about regional supports and services. Everyone is welcome.
At 1pm, join Mayor Alex Nuttall and representatives from the Indigenous community in the City Hall courtyard for the flag raising to recognize National Indigenous History Month.
