Honouring Our Grandmother's is the second annual Metis Art and Culture Festival in Barrie Ontario at the Allendale Hall for Red Dress Day. For Metis community members, the grandmothers in our families are what connect us to our Indigeneity. This event is designed to honour those women and celebrate the ones who continue to pass down our Metis culture to us. This event will have Metis musicians, visual artists and guest speakers. Some of them include: elders Tony Belcourt and Doris Lanigan, fashion designer Jason Baerg, visual artist Patti Belanger and many more.
This event is supported by the Barrie South Simcoe Metis Council, Kooshkopayiw Art Collective and the Canada Council for the Arts.
