The City is in the process of creating a new comprehensive Zoning By-Law, and residents, businesses and industry stakeholders are invited to share feedback. This in-person meeting will allow residents and business owners to share their thoughts on the first draft of the new Zoning By-law.
The new Zoning By-law is designed to implement the vision and policies of Barrie’s recently adopted Official Plan. The Official Plan is currently awaiting approval by the Province. A Zoning By-law regulates the use of land in our community. It tells how land may be used, where buildings and other structures can be located, the types and form of buildings that are permitted, and how those buildings can be used. This is the first new Zoning By-law for Barrie in 13 years.
The main changes in the first draft include density increases, greater variety of housing types, parking districts, and the potential of allowing backyard chickens in the future, pending Council approval. Visit buildingbarrie.ca/zoning to learn more.

There is a virtual meeting on April 20 in the afternoon, as another option for residents and business owners to attend. Registration is required.
