The City of Barrie is updating its Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to determine the transportation requirements to support its current growth forecast to 2051 targeting 298,000 people and 150,000 jobs. The forecast was developed within the legislative context of the previous provincial Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2019.
This study will:
Review the existing TMP and current network conditions to identify existing capacity constraints;
Ensure the transportation network and services meet the current and future community needs by providing long-term and integrated transportation planning strategies to year 2051 and beyond; and
Recommend future infrastructure projects to support the planned growth.
The meeting will be held in a drop-in format with informational panels on display. Project team members will be available to answer questions and gather feedback on Barrie’s future transportation network. The team will:
provide an overview of the Transportation Master Plan study and development process;
share key feedback received from PICs #1 and #2;
seek feedback on the recommended multi-modal network and network evaluation process;
provide an overview of supportive policy initiatives and gather input; and
indicate next steps and opportunities for engagement.
For residents unable to attend the in-person PIC, the material will be available at BuildingBarrie.ca/TransportationMasterPlan following the event and you can use interactive digital tools to provide your feedback.
