Evergreen Wellness Studio, a collaborative wellness clinic located at 60 Collier St. in downtown Barrie, is hosting an interactive TMJ/TMD education workshop on July 23rd. The evening experience will give attendees a firsthand look at how Evergreen's healthcare team assesses and treats temporomandibular joint dysfunction from multiple perspectives.

Jaw pain is rarely just about the jaw. TMJ/TMD can be influenced by muscle tension, posture, stress, sleep, hormones, breathing patterns and more. During this hands-on evening, guests will watch Evergreen's practitioners demonstrate how they assess TMJ/TMD as a team and work together to build a personalized plan of care.

Attendees will learn:

  • What contributes to TMJ/TMD
  • Why symptoms often persist
  • How massage therapy, chiropractic care, naturopathic medicine and myofunctional therapy work together
  • What an individualized treatment plan can look like
  • When each service may be appropriate

Throughout the evening, practitioners will perform live assessments and treatment demonstrations, including gentle intraoral massage therapy techniques, and explain their clinical approach. The evening will close with an open Q&A.

“Jaw pain rarely has one cause, and it rarely has one solution,” said Candice Thomas, founder and CEO of Evergreen Wellness Studio and a Registered Massage Therapist concentrating her practice on TMJ rehabilitation. “This workshop is a chance for people to see collaborative care in action and understand what’s really going on beneath their symptoms.”

Whether attendees have been living with jaw pain, headaches, clenching or facial tension, or are simply curious about their options, the workshop is designed to help them understand the root causes of TMJ/TMD and the collaborative care available at Evergreen.

The evening includes:

  • Live demonstrations
  • Q&A with the collaborative team
  • Refreshments
  • A take-home TMJ/TMD Signature Pathway guide
  • A gift bag

Space is limited to 10 participants to keep the experience intimate and interactive.
