City workers conduct cleanup of downtown parks

Barrie, ON – City staff have been working to clean up downtown parks over the last couple weeks. Crews were cleaning at Queen’s Park last week as part of measures to keep the downtown park clean and safe. The measures included City staff trimming back branches on trees and shrubs to improve sight lines, and a fresh coat of paint on a structure defaced by graffiti.

“Our downtown parks are the heartbeat of our neighbourhoods where families gather. They should be a clean, welcoming, and safe space for all,” said Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall. “I want to thank our incredible public servants who work hard to keep our parks clean each day.”

In addition to Queen’s Park, staff have also been working to address litter at the Marina North Park and will continue to address other parks as required.

The City of Barrie is home to 300 hectares of scenic park space. To find a park near you visit barrie.ca/parks.
