(Barrie, ON) – The following City of Barrie services will be affected on the Civic Holiday, Monday, August 4:
- City Hall will be closed on Monday, August 4.
- Recreation/Community Centres will be closed on Monday, August 4.
- Barrie Transit will run on a Sunday service schedule on Monday, August 4. Barrie Transit will also be offering a free Kempenfest shuttle service August 1 to 4.
- The Tiffin Boat Launch will be closed August 1 to 4 due to Kempenfest. A public boat launch is available at the City of Barrie Marina (limited trailer parking).
Service reminders:
- Curbside Collection: There will be no change to the waste collection schedule on Monday, August 4; curbside collection will occur as regularly scheduled. Visit barrie.ca/CurbsideCollection for more information on curbside collection services and to look up your collection schedule.
- Parking: Downtown parking (on-street and lots) is enforced on the Civic Holiday. Waterfront parking, and parking in the hybrid and marina lots, is enforced 24/7/365. To park free in select waterfront areas, vehicles must be registered with a digital waterfront parking permit. Residents and visitors are advised that some waterfront parking lots will be closed on various days throughout the holiday weekend to accommodate Kempenfest; visit barrie.ca/parking for the list of lots, closure dates and all other parking details.
- Fireworks: Fireworks are not permitted on the Civic Holiday or surrounding days, as per the Regulatory Matters By-law.
- Beaches: Residents and visitors are reminded that tents or sunshades are not permitted at beaches and waterfront parks. This is for safety and to maintain sightlines. Umbrellas supported by a single pole are welcome. Visit barrie.ca/beaches for more beach use guidelines.
