The Recreation Refund Policy governs the timeframe for granted refunds for recreation programs, memberships, and related services.

Withdrawals and transfers can be done online at play.barrie.ca prior to programs start. To withdraw/transfer same day, or after program start, call 705-739-4223 or visit us in person at one of our main community centres.

All withdrawal requests are subject to an administration fee. If withdrawing due to a medical issue, call 705-739-4223 or see us in person at one of our main community centres with confirmation and the administration fee will be waived.

If the City of Barrie cancels your program for any reason, you will receive a full credit or refund as requested. …

Camps & Leadership

Withdrawal requests accompanied by a doctor’s note indicating that the participant can no longer attend camp due to medical reasons will receive a pro-rated refund as of the date the doctor’s note is received. If the participant is withdrawn by City staff due to program incompatibility, you will receive a prorated credit for any camp days remaining as of the date of withdrawal.

Withdrawal requests received less than 5 business days prior to the start date for Summer Camps, Winter Break/March Break Camps, Aquatic Leadership Courses or one-day workshops.No credit or refund will be issued. 

Registered Recreation Classes

Withdrawal requests accompanied by a doctor’s note indicating that the participant can no longer attend classes due to medical reasons will receive a pro-rated refund as of the date the doctor’s note is received. If the participant is withdrawn by City staff due to program incompatibility, you will receive a prorated credit for any classes remaining as of the date of withdrawal.

Withdrawal requests received less than 2 business days prior to the first class but before the third class. Prorated refund, less $15 admin fee.
Withdrawal requests received on or after the third class of the program.No credit or refund will be issued.

Leagues (Teams)

Withdrawal requests accompanied by a doctor’s note indicating that the participant can no longer attend games due to medical reasons will receive a pro-rated refund as of the date the doctor’s note is received. If the participant is withdrawn by City staff due to program incompatibility, you will receive a prorated credit for any games remaining as of the date of withdrawal.

Withdrawal requests received between less than 2 weeks prior to the league start.Full refund, less $15 admin fee per player (based on maximum team size).
Withdrawal requests received after the league has started.No credit or refund will be issued. 

RecPASS Memberships

SituationOutcome
Withdrawal requests received prior to your next automatically scheduled payment.Payments will be stopped, no credit or refund will be issued. Your membership will remain active for the remainder of the paid month.
