City asking residents for feedback on Marshall Green report

Barrie, ON – The City of Barrie wants to hear from residents about the future of the downtown and waterfront. On August 14, 2024, Marshall Green provided a report to Barrie City Council, The Southshore, Barrie Sports and a Revitalized Downtown. Mr. Green was asked to gather information about the parade ground and multi-use sports field and report back to Council with feedback from various stakeholder groups/organizations and to summarize their position to help guide the waterfront and downtown vision.

At the request of Council, Mayor Alex Nuttall issued Mayoral Direction on August 15 to the CAO and staff to pause actioning Council’s motion 24-G-111 (Sea Cadets Parade Ground & Multi-Use Sports Field) to allow for public consultation to occur.

Marshall Green’s report outlines several recommendations, and City Council wants to hear what the public thinks. Visit buildingbarrie.ca/paradegroundsportsfield to take the survey. The survey closes Wednesday, September 25.

In addition to the online survey, an in-person drop-in consultation will take place Tuesday, September 24 from 4 to 8 p.m.at the General John Hayter Southshore Centre. At the drop-in session, staff will be asking residents for feedback on the same questions from the online survey.

All feedback will be provided to Council in a report on Oct. 9, 2024.
