City invites property owners to apply for funding for heritage conservation projects

(BarrieON) –The City of Barrie is now accepting applications for the Conservation of Built Heritage Grant Program, which provides funding to support property owners undertaking the restoration, and/or renovation, of heritage properties. Funding is available to contribute up to 60 per cent of eligible costs (to a maximum of $10,000) for related renovation, restoration, necessary upgrades, energy efficiency improvements, and other eligible conservation work on heritage listed or designated properties

The grant program is offered through the City’s Conservation of Built Heritage Community Improvement Plan (CIP). Updated in 2025, this plan is designed to support property owners in conserving listed and designated heritage properties, ensuring Barrie’s unique character endures for generations to come.
