About the Proposed Development
Simcoe County Housing Corporation has submitted an application for an exemption from the Full Site Plan Control process for the land known as 445 Blake Street.
The site plan exemption will facilitate the relocation of the existing modular building at 20 Rose Street to the subject lands to provide the County of Simcoe’s Supportive Rapid Re-Housing service (SRRH). This service is provided by the County of Simcoe, will be staffed 24-hours a day, and is designed to assist seniors (55+) who are situationally homeless (i.e., due to a recent life event, rather than chronically homeless). The program offers services, housing, and support to seniors in need with the goal of quickly transitioning them into permanent housing, typically within 180 days.
Update (December 2, 2024):
The City of Barrie has received a revised Site Plan Exemption application for 445 Blake Street, to facilitate placement of a second modular building on the subject lands. Together, these two modular buildings will provide 12 units to support the County of Simcoe’s SRRH program.
For more information about how the proposed facility will operate, please visit the County of Simcoe’s website at: Supportive Rapid Re-Housing Program - Simcoe County.
