The Contractor has completed all underground works and connections. The next month will include construction of the remaining road and sidewalk, with construction finishing at the end of October as planned.
Transit stops have been modified slightly to accommodate construction. Occasional lane closures controlled by trained traffic control persons can be expected. As always, please drive with caution when approaching the construction zone, and be mindful of pedestrians using the crosswalk.

The Contractor has completed the watermain and storm sewer construction along Bell Farm Road. Over the next few weeks local businesses should be advised that water shut offs will be required to complete the connections to the new main. A minimum of 48 hours advanced notice will be provided prior to any scheduled shut off.
June 2022
The Contractor has started work on the second phase of the project. Traffic has been shifted to the newly paved roadway as the Contractor works towards completion. Transit stops have been slightly modified to accommodate the traffic shift. Occasional lane closures controlled by trained traffic control persons can be expected. As always, please drive with caution when approaching the construction zone, and be mindful of pedestrians using the crosswalk.

The Contractor has recently completed the first stage of the road construction and will be transition traffic to the newly paved road on June 6th, to complete the remainder of the roadway. Construction has begun on the Bell Farm Road Right-of-way expansion project. Traffic has been shifted slightly to the north to allow storm sewer and road reconstruction activities to occur. Two lanes of traffic remain through the work zone, one in either direction. Occasional lane closures controlled by trained traffic control persons can be expected. As always, please drive with caution when approaching the construction zone.

The contractor is expected to resume operations in early April. Construction will be focused between Alliance Boulevard East and Duckworth Street. The scope of work to be completed includes watermain replacement, storm sewer construction, roadway widening and reconstruction, and active transportation improvements. Traffic will be shifted slightly but two lanes of traffic will remain through the work zone. Occasional lane closures controlled by trained traffic control persons can be expected. As always, please drive with caution when approaching the construction zone.

Construction of Bell Farm Road between Alliance Boulevard East and Duckworth Street will take place this year. With the end of winter in sight, the contractor is beginning preparation to resume construction this spring, Over the next two months you can expect to see setup and preparation activities. November 2021
All work for the 2021 season is complete. The Contractor will resume operations in early spring 2022.
September 17, 2021
Starting September 20, 2021, the contractor will be completing temporary road widenings along the north side of Bell Farm Road between Alliance Blvd East and Duckworth Street in preparation for the road reconstruction works scheduled for spring 2022. The work includes the following:
- Removal of existing curbs on the north side of Bell Farm Road
- Construction of an approximate 2.0m road widening towards the north
Work is expected to be completed prior to November 2021. During this time vehicle access to properties within the construction limits will be provided at almost all times during construction periods. On several occasions, however, direct access to driveways will be interrupted, due to driveway culvert replacement and road widening activities. The contractor must give prior notice of any imminent access restrictions to the businesses.
During the construction, some short delays while driving through the construction area can be expected while equipment is maneuvering, trucks are dumping, etc. We ask for your patience in such instances. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Bell Farm Road, St. Vincent Street to Alliance Boulevard, is open to through traffic. The City of Barrie appreciates your patience and cooperation during this closure and is pleased to announce the early opening of the road. Reconstruction of Bell Farm Road between Alliance Boulevard East and Duckworth Street will take place in 2022.
May 27, 2021
As of May 17th, Bell Farm Road is closed between Alliance Boulevard East and Alliance Boulevard West. The closure is expected to be in place until August 31st, 2021. A traffic detour is in place to direct traffic along Alliance Boulevard around the closure. All businesses remain open. Access to #20, #40 and #50 Bell Farm Road is from Alliance Boulevard. Access to #59 and #65 Bell Farm Road is through the east end of the closure.
April 2021
Construction has started for the road reconstruction of Bell Farm Road between St. Vincent Street and Alliance Boulevard West. Work on the south side of the road has progressed and it is expected to be completed by mid May, followed by the construction of the north side of the road.
On May 17th, Bell Farm Road will be closed between Alliance Boulevard East and Alliance Boulevard West. This is expected to be in place until October 1, 2021. A traffic detour business signage plan has been installed to direct traffic along Alliance Boulevard. Access to all businesses will remain open via access from Alliance Boulevard.
March 2021
Through a competitive tendering process, the City has retained Primrose Contracting (Ont.) Inc. to complete the construction of the work. The City has also retained BT Engineering to complete the contract administration and inspection services for this project.
Primrose Contracting Inc. requires intermittent lane closures/restrictions/shifts on Bell Farm Road between St Vincent Street and Alliance Boulevard tentatively from March 29 to May 17 for works related to the reconstruction of Bell Farm Road.
November 2020
The City of Barrie Infrastructure Department has completed the design for the widening and reconstruction of Bell Farm Rd. from St. Vincent St. to Duckworth St. The City will be hiring a contractor in fall 2020.
