The City is completing an upgrade of select paid parking station devices throughout Barrie to meet Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards. The new devices:

  • allow for payment with credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and debit interactions.
  • meet PCI standards and increase protection from fraudulent activities against the City and parking users.

Vendors of these devices complete annual Privacy Impact Assessments via third party auditors and meet PCI DSS Level 1 compliance; the highest level of compliance annually reviewed by a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA).

When using the new devices, if drivers do not have tap functionality they can pay by cash or use the HotSpot parking app.
