Through the annual Play Court Construction and Park Site Works Program, the City aims to provide additional outdoor recreational opportunities to meet the needs and interests of the surrounding communities, and offer engaging experiences for all visitors. The City’s vision is to seamlessly integrate new play court opportunities within existing City parks to:
- Encourage social, physical, and mental engagement of persons of all ages and abilities (universal design)
- Foster motor and social skills, while providing excitement and challenge
- Further promote parks as community gathering spaces and activity hubs

Past Project Details
All 2024 court projects were deemed substantially complete as of November 2024, and courts line painting was completed in spring 2025. Projects included:
- A new full-sized multi-use court at the Barrie Community Sports Complex
- A full-sized unlit multi-use court at Cartwright Park
- A half-sized unlit basketball court at Robin Court Park
- A new full-sized multi-use court at Shalom Park
