The City and the Barrie Public Art Committee are seeking to commission up to six artworks for the 2026 Brightening Barriers season. Brightening Barriers is a temporary public art project that brings original works by local and regional artists to patios throughout downtown Barrie. With patio fencing serving as a canvas, Brightening Barriers offers an opportunity to turn “barriers" into a collective artistic experience.
Prospective artists interested in the Brightening Barriers program are invited to attend a virtual information session to learn more about the program. This session will provide an overview of the Call for Artists, including project scope, eligibility, and key timelines, and will include a question-and-answer period for artists interested in applying. The session will be recorded.
