Join birder and botanist Reuven Martin for a guided walk along the waterfront as we continue to find wild species for the City Nature Challenge. You’ll explore shoreline habitats, spot local wildlife, and learn how to capture and upload observations to iNaturalist so they count toward our city’s biodiversity effort. It’s an easy, engaging way to discover nature and contribute to community science.

Please note:

  • Meet up by the Rose Garden beside the General John Hayter Southshore Community Centre.
  • There are public washrooms.
  • This is a Waterfront Parking Lot and is subject to parking fees.
  • Open for all ages and abilities. Pre-registration is required.

About the City Nature Challenge (CNC)

The City Nature Challenge (CNC) is an annual international event to collaboratively record as many wildlife observations as possible during a four-day challenge. People from all over the world explore nature in their neighborhoods and cities to find and document wildlife. Every year, we record how many observations of nature are gathered, how many different species are documented, and how many people help this global scientific community better understand nature all over the world. With this data we can better protect urban nature globally. There will be an opportunity to participate in the challenge so bring your phone!
