On January 29, 2025, City Council approved motion 25-G-014 to form a Parking Advisory Ad-Hoc Committee to review Barrie's on-street parking standards, including provisions for new developments, current practices and potential modernization, and report back to the Community Safety Committee by the end of Q2 2026 with its findings. Once the committee has undertaken and completed its review, it is anticipated that it will be dissolved.

Mandate

To review on-street parking standards in the City of Barrie, including provisions for new developments, current practices and potential modernization.

The Parking Advisory Ad-Hoc Committee composition is as follows:

  • Deputy Mayor Thomson
  • Councillor, C. Riepma
  • Three citizen members
  • One to two representatives from the development community
