Theatres

The City of Barrie manages the Georgian Theatre, a professional performing arts facility on the Georgian College campus, and the downtown Five Points Theatre, presented by Pratt Homes & Pratt Development and includes the Park Place Theatre.

Five Points Theatre Open

The Five Points Theatre, presented by Pratt Homes & Pratt Development, is currently open for rehearsing, recording, and select public events.

Georgian Theatre Open

The Georgian Theatre is open and booking requests are being accepted. Call 705-739-4299 or email culture.venues@barrie.ca with booking questions.

Customers are asked to follow Georgian College's safety protocols when visiting the theatre.

The decision to close Georgian Theatre in 2021 and not to proceed with renovating Fisher Auditorium highlighted the urgent need for a large performing arts facility in Barrie.

The 2022 Budget included funding to reopen Georgian Theatre in 2022. Details about the cost of reopening are included in the New Investment & Service Recommendations document.

This solution will address a need for cultural performance space identified by the performing arts community. It is a short-term solution as the City moves forward with the potential of a new performing arts centre.

The Performing Arts Centre Task Force serves as a working group to advance the planning required to construct a modern performing art facility in the city downtown core to replace Georgian Theatre and Fisher Auditorium.
