About the Voting Methods

Barrie City Council formally approved the use of these alternative voting methods in 2019 authorizing the City Clerk to proceed with online and telephone voting for future elections (see file #19‑G‑280).

For 2026, the City will deliver these services using the secure digital voting platform Voatz. This modernized approach aligns with Ontario’s broader allowance for alternative voting methods designed to enhance accessibility, reduce barriers and support higher voter participation. The integration of Voatz’s technology aims to provide a reliable, user‑friendly and accessible voting experience for all eligible electors. For more information, review the internet and telephone voting election policies and procedures or the electronic voting FAQs.

Visit any Voter Assistance Centre during the dates and times listed below to receive in‑person support to cast your vote using the digital voting platform or get assistance adding yourself to the voters list.
