The City does not issue permits or reserve parks/pavilions for private functions (weddings, birthday parties, corporate picnics, etc.). Though access is available for private functions, no private event can be officially booked within a city park; therefore there's no guarantee the park won't be in use by another group.

A special event permit is required to host a public event on municipal property.  If hosting an event open to the public, please contact the Special Events Office for information about the permit process: 705-739-4285 or events@barrie.ca.

A mobile food vendor is a concession that is a specially designed, self-contained motorized, or non-motorized vehicle that is used for the preparation, cooking, and sale of food that is mobile. 

Vendors approved through the bid opportunities website provide high-quality on-site mobile food services in Barrie parks during the summer season. Vendors must focus on foods that appeal to a wide range of customers, offer nutritious selections, and represent the cultural diversity of the community. Mobile food services in parks contribute to a positive visitor experience, promote convenience and accessibility, generate revenue create social spaces support health and well-being attractive events and stimulate the local economy.

The seasonal mobile food vendor program is closed for the 2025 season. The program ran from June through September 2025. If you are interested in becoming an approved vendor for 2026, please email purchasing@barrie.ca.
