Seniors 55+ Programs

There’s no age limit on staying active in Barrie. The Allandale 55+ Centre and Parkview Centre for 55+ offer recreation, education and fitness opportunities along with events and workshops for individuals 55 years of age and better.

Did you know? Adults​ 65+ ride Barrie Transit​ FREE on Thursdays throughout the year, with a valid ID​. ​​

PALS Monthly Newsletter

The City's 55+ centres offer a variety of special events & programs throughout the year. Check out our monthly newsletter PALS to stay up to date on what's happening, or refer to the Monthly Calendar .

As declared by the provincial government, effective January 5th, Ontario has moved to a Modified Step 2 of the Roadmap to Re-Opening. This has resulted in the closure of our recreation facilities including Allandale and Parkview 55+ Centres. Below are important updates related to your membership.  Check back for future updates as they become available.   

  • All membership payments will be paused for the duration of our closure.
  • All memberships including recACCESS and 55+ members will be extended by the duration of our closure so you will still be able to enjoy the benefits of membership for your full term once we re-open.

Seniors Centre Without Walls

Connect and engage with other seniors through our virtual programs! This program is run by 55+ Centre staff and community partners. Enjoy a variety of activities including fitness, dance, social, wellness seminars and educational talks and more . The program is free and open to all seniors in Barrie. SCWW Info Page

Mindfulness Meditation for Health and Hope

THIS CLASS IS OFFERED BY TELEPHONE SERVICE NOT IN PERSON. Join this call to connect with others and to boost your wellbeing. Be inspired through simple exercises, guided meditations and sharing. Get comfortable with a cup of tea, pen and paper on hand. Hands free devise is best. Led by S. Lynn Marshall, Therapist, teacher and meditator. Facilitated by City of Barrie program staff. Participants will receive a phone call one day ahead with instructions on how to call into this telephone program from home. We are pleased to offer FREE, fun and interactive programs that are over the phone. Join us from the comfort of your own home.

Program sessions 60 minutes long and are held: Every Thursday from 10 am to 11 am.
