A detached accessory dwelling unit (DADU), also referred to as a secondary dwelling, is a type of additional residential unit and is permitted in lands designated Neighbourhood Area.
The City's Second Suite Registration By-law (PDF) requires detached accessory dwelling units to be registered with the City. This ensures all relevant agencies and City departments, including Barrie Fire and Emergency Service, are aware of the additional units on the property.
