The City of Barrie, alongside partners Canadian Forces Base Borden, County of Simcoe, Lake Simcoe Regional Airport, and the Downtown Barrie BIA officially announced the return of the Barrie Airshow, presented by Pratt Homes at a media event.


The union representing transit operators (Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1775) have ratified an agreement with the City of Barrie’s Transit contractor MVT Canadian Bus Inc.


The City of Barrie is recognizing Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day today, Wednesday, March 18.


Residents can register for City of Barrie summer camps starting Tuesday, March 24. Non-resident registration opens on Tuesday, March 31. Starting today, customers can browse programs and save them to their “Wish List”, to conveniently find desired programs when registration opens.


The City of Barrie is proactively communicating with transit riders to advise that the union representing Barrie Transit workers could be in a strike position as of Monday, March 23, 2026. Barrie Transit service is delivered under a contract by MVT Canadian Bus Inc.


The City of Barrie’s 2025 Heritage Awards were presented at last evening’s City Council meeting. These awards are presented annually by the City’s Heritage Committee to buildings, individuals, and groups who have contributed to preserving Barrie’s community heritage and who share awareness of historical conservation.


The City of Barrie is proclaiming the month of March as ITSTARTS month. ITSTARTS is a public awareness campaign, led by the County of Simcoe, designed to take a proactive step towards addressing racism and discrimination, and embracing acceptance, inclusion, equity and diversity.

The City of Barrie is moving forward with a zoning update to support the long term growth of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH). Mayor Alex Nuttall issued a Mayoral Direction today to rezone key hospital owned lands to allow for expedited hospital projects.
