Committees & Task Forces

Committees, task forces, boards, and panels support opportunities for public input into decision-making. Members of Barrie City Council are also members of General Committee (a standing committee), select reference committees, and select advisory committees. The standing, reference, and advisory committees listed below are included within the City's Procedural By-law. Calls for applications are posted on this website when there are vacancies to be filled. 

Type: Advisory Committee
Mandate: To review Barrie's on-street parking standards, including provisions for new developments, current practices and potential modernization.
Type: Other
Mandate: To review eligible grant applications, evaluate each application using a pre-set scoring matrix, and to recommend funding dollars to City staff in keeping with the grant’s purpose and guiding principles.
Type: Advisory Committee
Mandate: To champion issues related to the provision of an accessible community on behalf of all Barrie’s citizens. To represent and provide advice on seniors’ perspectives on municipal matters.
Type: Advisory Committee
Mandate: To develop and enhance relationships, communications, and policies between Georgian College students, the City and the community.
Type: Advisory Committee
Mandate: To provide advice and recommendations to Council about social, environmental, and municipal issues that interest and/or affect youth in the City of Barrie.
