This bulletin summarizes the City’s policy for grade plan requirements in accordance with Building By-law (By-law No. 2026-066). These provisions apply to projects not subject to Site Plan Control, Site Alteration Permits, or Subdivision Agreements.

The City of Barrie is pleased to advise that Council has enacted a new Building By-law regulating the administration and enforcement of the Building Code Act regarding the construction, demolition or the change of use of buildings.

Effective March 3, 2026, Building Compliance Letters can be requested through APLI, the City’s online tool for applications, permits, licences, and inspections.
