The future of waste management includes a circular economy. This means we need to rethink the traditional three Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) and consider the value of materials and products before they become waste. Let's rethink waste!

Please remember to ensure your materials are curbside by 7am (4:30am in the downtown BIA) for collection. If items are not curbside by this time, the City cannot guarantee they will be collected. Routing changes that could affect collection times can often occur for a number of reasons including weather, road closures and vehicle breakdowns.

While Barrie is geographically located in Simcoe County, the City of Barrie is governed separately. There are some differences to sorting items for curbside collection in the County and the City as different processors are used. If you live in Barrie, please refer to this lookup tool to be certain where items should go.

Reusable Clothing & Textiles

If this item is usable, it can be reused or donated to local charities!

Textiles are considered usable if they are clean, dry, and in good enough condition to be worn or reused by someone else. Consider reuse or a donation to local charities. Alternatively, gently used clothing, footwear and linens can be taken to the Barrie Landfill (272 Ferndale Drive North) to be recycled at no charge (must be in clear bags).

Ride on lawn mower

If this item is usable, it can be reused or donated to local charities!

Consider reuse or donation to local charities. Remove all fluids (gas, oil, etc.) from the mower and bring the fluids to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot at the Barrie Landfill at 272 Ferndale Dr. N for proper disposal. Once fluids have been removed, the mower may be brought to the Barrie Landfill. There is no curbside collection for this item.

Roto Tiller (Residential only)

Remove all fluids (gas, oil, etc.) from the roto tiller and bring the fluids to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot at the Barrie Landfill at 272 Ferndale Dr. N for proper disposal. Once fluids have been removed, the roto tiller may be brought to the Barrie Landfill. There is no curbside collection for this item.
