The City of Barrie reminds residents that waterfront hangtag parking passes for Barrie residents expired on December 31, 2023. Residents must replace their physical hangtag pass with a digital waterfront parking permit.

Registration for City of Barrie summer recreation and culture programs opens on Tuesday, May 21, at 8 a.m. Customers can currently browse offerings at play.barrie.ca and save them to their “Wish List" to conveniently find desired programs when registration opens.

The City of Barrie is inviting residents to submit photos of their gardens and floral displays for this year’s Communities in Bloom campaign for a chance to be featured on the City’s website and social media channels.

The City of Barrie is reminding residents about changes to curbside collection of yard waste. Effective May 1, 2024, there is no specific day for yard waste collection.

The City of Barrie is conducting its annual Business & Employer Data Survey. Beginning May 9, City employees will conduct door-to-door engagement with businesses located in the city’s commercial and industrial areas.

This plan will help to shape Barrie’s cultural trajectory over the next decade and guide future decisions, policies, programs and investments to enhance the local creative sector. The public are encouraged to get involved and provide feedback, so the City can better understand the view and values towards culture and public art in Barrie.

Applications are now open for the City’s Licence 2 Ride program, which offers Barrie youth aged twelve to sixteen free rides on Barrie Transit and access to free recreational opportunities at the City’s recreation/community centres from July 1 to September 2, 2024.

The City of Barrie is observing Drinking Water Week, from May 5 to 11, by recognizing the vital role that tap water plays in daily life, the infrastructure that is required to carry it to homes and businesses, and the critical work that water professional staff do each day.
