Barrie Transit announces the official launch of phase one of its new Transit Network, set to go into effect this Sunday, June 2, 2024. This update is designed to enhance the current transit service, offering faster, more efficient routes, and expanded coverage to better serve the community.

This morning (May 30, 2024), the City of Barrie and the City of Saginaw became sister cities with the official signing of a sister city agreement in Saginaw, Michigan. City of Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall and City of Saginaw Mayor Brenda Moore signed the official sister city agreement.

The 2024 Barrie Airshow weekend, presented by Pratt Homes, will take place June 14, 15 and 16. The weekend will include free, family-friendly events, awe-inspiring aerobatics by Canada’s elite demonstration teams, plus a dazzling drone show specially created for the 2024 Barrie Airshow.

Barrie’s new Transit network is coming on June 2 and key changes include: Changes to routes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 100. Routes 2,7, and 8 will remain the same...

The City of Barrie’s pavement marking contractor will start the annual painting of road lane markings across Barrie beginning the week of May 27.

The City of Barrie’s Dunlop Street Interchange Trunk Sanitary Relocation project is in the final stages of completion, with final restoration work being done from now until the end of May.

The City of Barrie would like to remind residents of the importance of complying with the City's by-laws and the consequences of non-compliance. 

Some municipal services will be affected due to the Victoria Day holiday on Monday, May 20.

The City of Barrie invites residents to provide their feedback on Master Plans for transportation, water, and wastewater. These plans will lay the foundation for the future of the City’s infrastructure as Barrie grows.

Mayor Alex Nuttall announced that the Southshore Community Centre will be renamed General John Hayter Southshore Community Centre, in honour of the retired Brigadier General.
