Celebrate Canada Day on Wednesday, July 1! Visit barrie.ca/CanadaDay for event details.
The following City of Barrie services are affected on Canada Day:
- On July 1, Barrie Transit runs on an extended Sunday service schedule, with the last buses departing the Downtown Hub (adjacent to 24 Maple Ave.) and the Barrie Allandale Transit Terminal (20 Essa Rd.) after Canada Day fireworks at approximately 10:30pm. Visit MyRideBarrie.ca/News.
- Recreation/community centres are closed on July 1.
- City Hall is closed on July 1.
- Barrie’s landfill is closed on July 1.
Reminders
- There is no change to the waste collection schedule on July 1; curbside collection occurs as regularly scheduled. Visit barrie.ca/CurbsideCollection for more information on curbside collection services and to look up your collection schedule.
- Downtown parking (on-street and lots) is free on statutory holidays, including July 1. Waterfront parking is enforced 24/7/365. A digital waterfront parking permit is required to park for free at specific waterfront areas. The Spirit Catcher, Simcoe Street Lot and North Marina parking lots are hybrid lots, with rates consistent with waterfront parking rates (enforced 24/7/365); the waterfront parking permit is not valid in these lots. Note: The Chase McEachern Way Parking Lot and the south end of the Centennial Beach Lot are closed July 1 for the Canada Day celebrations. Road closures on Dunlop St. will be in place on July 1 for Open Air Dunlop (presented by the Downtown BIA). - Residents are permitted to use fireworks on the Canada Day holiday as per the Regulatory Matters By-law. Fireworks are permitted only until 11pm on the day of the celebration, per the Noise By-law. Please review fireworks safety reminders at barrie.ca/FireworksSafety.
