Effective October 15, 2018, the City of Barrie Bidding Process has gone paperless!

As part of its commitment to embrace innovation and improve how we do business, the City is excited to announce that on October 15, 2018, our open bidding processes have gone paperless

After the successful launch on May 1 of our new e-bidding platform, we have now moved to a fully electronic submission process. Effective October 15, 2018, all open procurements are only submitted electronically. This includes all open Request for Proposals (RFP), High Score Request for Quotations, and Low-bid Request for Quotations

Benefits include:

  • 100% environmentally friendly, on-line submissions 
  • Reduced carbon footprint - no more courier and printing requirements
  • Automatic notifications of new bid opportunities, addenda and site meeting reminders 
  • Online access to bid results
  • Customized vendor dashboard for quick access to active opportunities and bid history
  • Self-serve profile management including ability to upload vendor documents such as: Bonds, Insurance and WSIB
  • No requirement to travel to public tender openings as information will be released through Barrie's Bids and Tenders site e-bidding platform.

Digital Bonding:
Along with the move to full electronic bid submissions for open competitions, the City is also pleased to announce that effective October 15, 2018, digital bonds will now be accepted. This is in alignment with, and supported by, the Surety Association of Canada (SAC).  Click here to learn more.

Note: Paper bonds will still be accepted for those vendors who do not use digital bonds at this time.

Bids and Tenders Subscription:
Documents are free to view, however; you will need to register and subscribe to bids&tenders™ to download bid documents, receive notifications about new City of Barrie bid opportunities, and submit bids to the City of Barrie. Subscription to bids&tenders™ unlimited is just $169.95/year.  Pay once and access all agencies using bids&tenders™ in Canada. A one-time, pay-per-bid option is also available at $50.85/bid. 

Please note that subscription prices will increase effective January 1, 2020:

  • ​​Annual Supscription will increase from $169.95 per year to $175.05 per year
  • Pay-Per-Bid option will increase from $50.85 per bid to $52.38 per bid.

What happened to the existing bids on biddingo.com?

All bids posted prior to May 1, 2018 on Biddingo will continue to be valid, and submissions will continue as described in the bid document.  biddingo.com/barrie.

All new bids posted after May 1, 2018, will be done through bids&tenders™.  Bid documents and any associated addenda MUST be obtained through bids&tenders™ to be valid.

Where can I register with bid&bids&tenders™?

You need to register and subscribe to bids&tenders™  before May 1, 2018 to download bid documents, receive notifications about new City of Barrie bid opportunities, and submit bids to the City of Barrie.

How much does bids&tenders™ cost?

Subscription to bids&tenders™ unlimited is just $169.95year. Pay once and access all agencies using bids&tenders™ in Canada. A one-time, pay-per-bid option is also available at $50.85/bid. Bid documents can be previewed without the payment.
