Tomorrow night (Dec. 31), the City of Barrie’s Downtown Countdown event will take place at Barrie City Hall (70 Collier Street) starting at 6 p.m. This free evening of fun and entertainment has become one of Central Ontario's largest New Year's Eve celebrations.


The City of Barrie is declaring a Winter Maintenance Event overnight tonight to allow crews to effectively clear the streets from the recent snowfall.

The City of Barrie is providing a funding boost of $250,000 to Community Builders’ Trades and Diversity Program.


Council has approved the City of Barrie’s portion of the Mayor’s 2025 Budget. City Council approved a zero per cent increase to the City’s Operating Budget for the third year in a row, while continuing the contribution of 2 per cent for the Infrastructure Investment Funding levy.


Downtown Barrie is once again the place to be to ring in the New Year. This year’s free, family-friendly Downtown Countdown celebration on December 31 will include an amazing line-up with a country twist featuring Madeline Merlo, Sonshine and Broccoli as the children’s performer, and local artist Kyle Wauchope.
