Garbage Cart Exchange Requests

In preparation for the transition to curbside cart collection on September 8, 2025, a 240L garbage cart was delivered to all Barrie properties in the summer of 2025 unless the property owner chose to substitute for a smaller 120L garbage cart. If you would prefer a different size, the property owner can request a garbage cart size exchange.

Reminder: Carts are assigned to the property address and equipped with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag and a unique serial number linked to the property. They must stay with the assigned property—even if you move.

Owners of exclusively residential or exclusively business/institutional properties can submit exchange requests. To discuss size exchanges for mixed-use properties, please contact Service Barrie at 705-726-4242 or ServiceBarrie@barrie.ca

Submit cart exchange request

Your carts will be exchanged within two to three weeks of your request. You will be contacted via the email you provide in the cart exchange request form with specific cart setout instructions for your exchange.
