The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) announced that customers should expect delays due to rotating strikes. While postal service is occurring, "uncertainty and instability in the postal service will continue with the union’s decision to conduct rotating strikes."
Property owners/residents are still obligated to pay property tax and water/wastewater bills, as well as any fines/infractions by the due date.
Property Taxes
If you mailed a cheque after September 19 for the September 29 tax due date, please monitor your bank account to confirm the cheque was received. If your cheque was not received, we recommend making payment through an alternative method (in-person at your bank or City Hall, drop boxes at City Hall or online). Once Canada Post receives any delayed mail, the City will review accounts before processing cheque payments to ensure they should still be deposited.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for the property tax pre-authorized payment plan. For more information on payment options and tax due dates, visit barrie.ca/PropertyTaxes.
Water/Wastewater Bills
Please sign up for water/wastewater e-billing by logging in or creating an online water billing account and following instructions on the homepage. If creating a new online account, you'll need your water account number and the last payment amount. Please also review payment options for alternatives to mailing payments.
Don't want to create a water/wastewater billing account, but need to know how much you owe? Contact Service Barrie at 705-726-4242 or ServiceBarrie@barrie.ca and provide your name and property address.
Court Services
Amid the Canada Post labour disruption, please do not mail your payment. Payments can be made online at paytickets.ca, in person, by phone or courier. If you wish to request a trial, or submit any other application, please email it or attend in person. For full details on payments, requesting a trial and more, visit barrie.ca/ProvincialOffences.
Administrative penalty orders may be delivered by an alternate courier. Penalty orders can be paid in person or through most Canadian banks or by phone at 705-739-4280.
Parking Tickets
Payments for parking tickets are accepted online for a period of 75 days from the date issued.
Planning Notices
During the Canada Post rotating strikes, neighbourhood meeting notices related to development projects are not being mailed. Notices related to proposed development projects are linked on the individual webpages at barrie.ca/ProposedDevelopments.
