Thinking of having a backyard fire? The City offers two types of permits for outdoor burning. Permits are for recreational purposes only.

Most businesses require a City of Barrie Business Licence. There are 60+ categories for business licence application forms.

Permit holders may busk at designated Busking Zones when the areas are not being used for events.

A fee assistance program that provides at-risk individuals 6–12 years of age the opportunity to participate in an exciting summer camp experience.

The City’s Commemorative Program allows residents and visitors to pay tribute to a person or occasion within public lands.

In some cases, you may need to apply for consent to subdivide land without the requirement of a plan of subdivision; or a minor variance for permission or relief from the requirements of the City's Zoning By-law where circumstances make it difficult to comply with the specific zoning standards.

All properties located in the Downtown Business Improvement Area, and all business/instituional properties city-wide, must be registered to receive curbside waste collection service in Barrie.

Applications for death certificates do not go through the City of Barrie. They can be submitted to Service Ontario.

Every detached accessory dwelling unit (also referred to as a secondary dwelling) within Barrie must be registered. As part of the registration process, the City will confirm that the two-unit house is legal under the City’s Zoning By-law, and that the house complies with several health and safety regulations.

A pilot program applicable to new building permit applications for residential developments that are 5 storeys and above with a signed agreement to provide at least 20% affordable housing.
